Time Management Killer – The Long to-do-list

Time Management Killer – The Long to-do-list

We’ve all been told when you’ve got something to do, write it down on a paper, and that is completely right, but the big problem is when you have too many things on your to do list, you tend to focus on clearing the quick things you can get off the to do list, so you can bring the to do list down on a manageable size.

When you have a list of twenty things to do the question becomes “where do I start? Oh I’ll get that one done quickly”. So you wind-up dealing with the trivial instead of the important things and the important things get left and rushed at the end. Again it’s a key factor of the 80/20 principle where the outcome is you wind-up spending 80% of your time working on the trivia instead of the important things that drive you forward. This is a significant problem with traditional to-do lists.
